On their Instructor - Manage Opportunities page, instructors will see a chevron to the right of our Add Opportunities button. This little dropdown holds a fantastic and sometimes overlooked option: Single Opportunity. While creating a batch of opportunities may be the right option if you have multiple events to build, the Single Opportunity option is excellent for creating an individual event and assigning students as part of the process.
To utilize this option, you would follow these steps:
1. As an instructor inside Platinum Planner, select the Opportunities option from your toolbar and click Manage Opportunities.
2. Click the chevron to the right of the Add Opportunities button on the top right and select Single Opportunity.
3. Fill out the details for the opportunity.
Title: The name of the opportunity.
Description: You can add any additional details about the opportunity for students.
Site/Location: Where the opportunity will take place.
Start Date/Time: When the opportunity is scheduled to begin.
End Date/Time: When the opportunity is scheduled to end.
Apply Hours to (Category): This will be the category in which the Actual Duration of the shift will count toward the student’s hours progress.
Default Preceptor: This will automatically add a particular preceptor to the student's documentation. The student can change it if the preceptor is unavailable during the clinical experience.
Classes: The class(es) that you would like to be able to sign up for this opportunity or the class that the student is in that you wish to assign.
On the Settings tab:

No: The student and preceptor surveys will not be available.
4. When satisfied with the opportunity's details and settings, click the blue Create Opportunity button at the bottom right. This will automatically bring you to the Edit Opportunity page, where you can make any needed changes, including assigning students to the event.
5. If you need to assign students:
Click the Students tab.
Click the Modify Students button on the right.
Click the checkbox next to the student(s) you would like to assign to the opportunity and click Save Changes.
6. If you need to add Documents:
Select or upload any documents you want included in the student's documentation.
7. If you need to add forms:
Check the box for the roles you want the form(s) to appear in the documentation.
Select Shared if you want the parties to fill out the same form instance.
8. Click the blue Save button when finished.
We hope our instructors find this option beneficial. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this process.
