Test School Clinical Sites are designed to be operated and created by the school. The locations set by the school are to be run locally within Platinum Planner, by a School Administrator. A site can have as many different locations as needed, all with information and directions on how to get to them. One of the biggest differences, and what makes School Clinical Sites unique, is that during the creation of opportunities, an instructor has full control of selecting which site and/or specifically which location in the site to assign to those opportunities.
Shared sites are much like School Clinical Sites in functionality. However, they are designed to be run by the site themselves and can be shared across other schools. Users running Shared sites can create their own locations, schedules, and access, and even which schools or program types have access to them. Once a Shared site has created opportunities, your students will be able to view all the available opportunities that they have created and be able to send sign-up requests that the Shared Site users can approve.
Why do you need them? Regardless of which one you choose to use, having at least one of the two types of sites is imperative to using Platinum Planner. For students to fill out the documentation for the class, the first step will be to have one of the two site options. Whether you are creating opportunities or students are signing up for them, having a valid location or site associated with the documentation is required.
How do I make them? For information regarding the creation of Shared Sites or School Clinical Sites, we have detailed Articles on how to create them. While signed in on the website, you can click the “Help” button in the bottom right-hand corner and type in the Desired type of site; you will see articles listed that have instructions on how to set them up.
